Inwood Office Building
Situation
The new office building located in Winter Springs, Fla., is a 30,000 square foot state-of-the-art project designed by Hunton Brady. Its unique nautical theme throughout all its features makes this building a landmark in the Winter Springs area. The general contractor, Doster Construction Company, selected KENPAT to install framing, sheathing, interior wallboard, acoustical and linear metal pan ceilings, and stucco for the building.
Task
KENPAT was selected to install the interior framing and wall surfaces, acoustical and linear metal pan ceilings, and stucco for the building.
Action
KENPAT installed a ceiling system throughout the building that is a combination of drywall lids, light coves, accented with acoustical tile and metal linear pan ceilings.
KENPAT encountered several difficult installations on the first floor. The Trapezoid metal ceilings of the lobby were divided by a central light cove. Recessed lighting fixtures and HVAC diffusers made the work on the ceiling support system and the cutting of the metal panels difficult. Additionally, hanging the drywall was difficult because of the installation requirements of the double layer and Fry Reglet trims and the pre-finished wood panel system.
Moving to the second floor, one of the major focal points here is the oval-shaped conference room. KENPAT framed acoustical ceiling in this room by a drop soffit which houses the recessed lights. Coordination of the glass wall opening, doors, media and millwork areas added to the intricacy of the design and construction of the conference room. The layout of the custom bent metal stud track was complex, but the result was a beautiful conference room.
Result
The contemporary interior of the Inwood building was designed with the forefront of technology in mind. KENPAT successfully met the construction and design demands and earned the 2009 ABC Central Florida Excellence in Construction Eagle Award.
