Founded in 1981, Consolidated Label grew into one of the nation’s largest pressure-sensitive label manufacturers. To support expansion, the company commissioned a new 170,000-square-foot manufacturing plant and a 45,000-square-foot office in Sanford, FL, with Balfour-Beatty overseeing construction.
Balfour-Beatty engaged KENPAT to install light gauge metal framing, insulation, drywall, acoustical ceilings, and metal panel wall systems for the facility’s office and production spaces.
KENPAT delivered a visually striking entry lobby featuring Firestone Metal Wall Panels, Marlite Glass Shelving on a splayed light gauge frame, and a multi-layered ceiling system incorporating drywall soffits, a skylight return, and a 4x4 acoustical grid.
Precise alignment of the Firestone Metal Panel Wall System’s joint reveals with the glass curtainwall system required advanced engineering. KENPAT’s proactive preplanning process ensured seamless integration, overcoming a significant architectural challenge.
The entry transitions into a 600-foot corridor leading to administrative offices, framed and finished by KENPAT using light gauge metal studs and drywall.
To enhance the administrative space, KENPAT installed a multi-tiered acoustical ceiling system with cloud perimeter trims, optimizing lighting effects. A custom grey tile and exposed grid seamlessly integrated with open ceiling areas. Precisely laid-out drywall partitions provided structural support for glass-front offices, ensuring a modern and functional workspace.
In addition to the administrative areas, there is 170,000 square feet of floor space for manufacturing. KENPAT’s first major structural task involved constructing a 300-foot-long, 30-foot-high partition to divide the subleased storage space from the main plant. This involved 8,000 linear feet of metal studs and 12,000 square feet of drywall. Despite stored products being close to the partition, KENPAT completed the wall successfully.
KENPAT successfully developed support areas, including Digital Printing, the Customer Pickup area, Production Offices, restrooms, and a remodeled kitchen and dining space, enhancing functionality and employee experience.
KENPAT’s proactive preplanning ensured all installation challenges were met safely, on schedule, and within budget. By leveraging innovative planning and execution, KENPAT navigated project complexities, delivering a high-quality, award-winning outcome. The project’s success earned KENPAT the 2014 ABC Central Florida Excellence in Construction Eagle Award.
