Cinépolis Luxury Cinema
Situation
Cinépolis USA, a premier cinema exhibitor known for its elevated movie-going experiences, sought to expand its presence with a new luxury theatre in Davenport, Fla.
Task
Hensel Phelps, the general contractor, enlisted KENPAT to complete the theatre’s interior and exterior framing, drywall, and ceiling work.
Action
Despite significant rain delays that impacted drying time, KENPAT accelerated exterior framing and stucco work to keep the project on schedule.
The lobby and hallways featured multiple alcoves that required precise craftsmanship for a high-end finish. A metal-framed catwalk was constructed above the main hallway to provide service access to the theatres.
While most ceilings throughout the complex were drywall, the auditoriums featured suspended acoustical ceiling tiles to improve sound insulation.
The theatre consists of nine screening rooms, including one IMAX auditorium. The theatre auditoriums featured double-studded walls ranging from 36 to 46 feet in height, each requiring two layers of sound insulation and two layers of drywall on
both sides In addition to standard high-wall framing, KENPAT executed specialized solutions, including stepped seating frames and metal-tudded ramps.
Result
KENPAT completed the luxury theatre within an aggressive four-month timeline, overcoming weather delays and complex construction challenges. KENPAT’s precise craftsmanship in framing, drywall, and ceilings ensured a premium aesthetic and optimal acoustics. Both Cinépolis USA and Hensel Phelps praised KENPAT for its efficiency and execution. The project was honored with the 2016 ABC Central Florida Excellence in Construction Eagle Award, a testament to the team’s outstanding workmanship.
